Basic “Visible” Mending/Upcycling

This class is a great introduction into the very basics of what many call “visible mending,” as well as simply upcycling your old clothing! Visible mending entails bringing a broken, faded, or ripped item and making it look colorful and fun in a “patched-up” way. This class can be done entirely with hand sewing and embroidery, but you are also free to use the sewing machines! The instructor will bring some premade “idea swatches” as well as scrap fabric for you to gather inspiration from!

In this class, we will focus on:
– Basic hand embroidery stitches
– Fun and intentionally noticeable stitching/patching
– Altering garments for a more desirable outcome
