Description
Take your first steps into garment sewing with this beginner-friendly class. You’ll learn how to read a simple pattern, cut fabric correctly, and assemble a wearable piece from start to finish. With guided instruction, you’ll construct an elastic waist skirt–the perfect introduction to making your own clothing.
In this class, you will learn the basics of beginner garment sewing including (but not limited to):
- Understanding fabric grain and cutting on grain
- How to read and follow a beginner sewing pattern
- Marking and pinning fabric for accuracy
- Creating a waistband casing for elastic
- Completing an elastic waist skirt project
Project Supply List (per student):
- 1 yard of cotton, linen or lightweight woven fabric (pre-washed)
- 1″ wide elastic (enough to fit waist measurement + 2″)
- Matching all-purpose polyester thread
This class is recommended for students who have taken Class 1 & 2 or have equivalent sewing experience. Students under 15 must have a parent or guardian present.
All students must wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair for safety. Anyone who does not adhere to the dress code will not be able to participate in the class and will not be refunded.
