Description
Build on your sewing machine basics by learning how to create strong seams and clean finishes. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll practice the foundations of good sewing: joining fabric neatly, reinforcing your stitches, and finishing edges so your projects look polished and last longer. By the end, you’ll apply your new skills to create a functional and stylish pillow cover.
In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing including (but not limited to):
- How to sew plain seams and reinforce with backstitching
- Reinforcing seams for strength
- Adding an elastic waistband casing
- Finishing hems neatly
- Completing pajama shorts project
Project Supply List (per student):
- 1.5 yards of lightweight cotton or flannel (pre-washed)
- 1″ wide elastic (enough to fit waist measurement + 2″)
- Matching all-purpose polyester thread
This class is recommended for students who have completed the earlier beginner sewing classes or have equivalent experience. Students under 15 must have a parent or guardian present.
